How long have you played in Heart of England Co-operative Concert Orchestra? About 20 years.
How long have you played the violin? Since I was 10.
Why did you take it up? My father had a violin and I learned in music classes at school.
What do you love about playing with the Coop orchestra? The variety of music we play and the fact that what we play matches our standard quite well. Plus it's fun and friendly: everyone can have a go.
Why do you think an orchestra like Coop is important in the community? It's accessible music and we get out there in the community. It's somewhere people can come who are learners and returners and contribute in a non-threatening and supportive atmosphere.
What would you say to someone thinking about taking up and instrument or playing with an orchestra like Coop? Go for it, but don't expect to run before you can walk.
