Heart  of  England
Co-operative  Concert  Orchestra

Name: Rachel Owen
Instrument: Cello

How long have you played in Heart of England Co-operative Concert Orchestra?  2 years

How long have you played the cello?  8 ish years

Why did you take it up? I wanted to play an instrument but not violin like my sister, so I play the cooler version of my sisters instrument. [There's also a story about getting to sit down more with the cello, but we won't go into that!]

What do you love about playing with the Coop orchestra? I love playing with people I wouldn't usually get to play with, and I like the music because it's harder than what I play elsewhere. I'm always picking up new things from the amazing people I play with.

Why do you think an orchestra like Coop is important in the community? It brings together all sorts of people from all walks of life and who might not usually play together because they have work or suchlike. And it's good because you don't have to be a particularly high standard to join and people help you along.

What would you say to someone thinking about taking up and instrument or playing with an orchestra like Coop? Definitely do it because it's so much fun. You get to meet amazing people, play amazing music and go to awesome places. It's such a big part of my life i wouldnt not do it even with all the practice you need to do.
